    Changes

After having transferred out of the Lebanon store to go to Carlisle two months ago, it has been a whole different ballgame to me. I had always said that Lebanon's lucky not to get regional visits to the store, 'cause shit would hit the roof. Everyone told me that I was running away from Lebanon and going to Carlisle because my friend's at the store and things would be easier for me. I can say to them now that they don't know what in the world they are talking about. Yes, Carlisle is an easier store to be in since the store manager does a better job of running the store that Denise does running Lebanon, but every other week we either get a visit from the regional manager or the regional operations manager. In fact two weeks ago we had the pleasure of 4 visits. The morale among the management team was in the dumps since our store was described to our market manager as being "on fire and ready to fall off a cliff". I was almost (not the use of the word almost) starting to think about transferring back to Lebanon. Well it was only one day that our store wasn't in top shape (it was a week before Easter at noon on a Saturday, of course we'd be packed), and we've worked through it. In fact yesterday we had the owner of the Rice company (they mainly grow apples) come into the store to see a display we had of their apples to sell in the store and they took pictures that they were going to send on to our higher ups. Chad, my market grocery merchandiser came into the store for the visit as well and took his own picture of the entire produce department in which he sent a copy to the market manager. I got a call from Angie today asking me why I didn't tell her that the visit was awesome yesterday (I told her it went well), apparently our regional saw the pics and passed them on to home office (who wants a hard copy of the pics, saying that our produce department is the best produce that they've ever seen in the company). I can't believe it, we can do things right in Carlisle. It's exciting to know that my associates were excited about the local growers coming in and their hard work paid off big time. I personally have a copy of all the pics taken so I can show everyone what their hard work has accomplished and what they can do on an everyday basis.

    A Quick Update.....

I will go into more details tomorrow (hopefully if I'm not stuck working such ungodly hours at work), but tomorrow I will be getting my "eval". You might wonder why I use the quotes, and that's because it's a mock eval, it will not be going on my record and I will not be getting a raise. I also found out today that I'm now on a 17 day stretch and so when I was told to write comments to put on my "eval", I decided to add some comments to make my point loud and clear about how I feel about my current store. I'll update how this "eval" goes tomorrow and if I still have a job.

    Interesting...

Have you ever found out information that you really didn't need to know? Well that's what happened to me yesterday. I was in the Palmyra store when I found out that my ex's girlfriend (let me point out that this is the same person he cheated on me with) is now working at that store. Now I'd love to go back to that store, 'cause I would make both of their lives a living hell, but I wouldn't, I'm more professional than that.

But I've been thinking about my job lately and working in Lebanon. I've talked with my co-manager about it and Shelley's telling me that I'm a good assistant and that I shouldn't quit because of one person. But it seems I can't do anything right in that store. I even talked to a few other managers and they asked me if I'm being set up to fail as a manager. In all honesty, that's how I've been feeling lately (ok, so I've only been in that store for 3 months, but it's felt like 5 years). Especially since we're moving areas in a month, and the areas i have are gonna be split into thirds. So I'm keeping my options open and if I find a position in another store, I'm gonna go for it, unless some things change at work.

    A New Year

I figured it's time for another update, but there's only been some happenings at work, since that's where I seem to spend most of my time through the holidays. There are days I wonder why I was assigned to the areas I have, it seems I have all sorts of associate issues to deal with there. So needless to say I won't be the favorite among some people when I'm done taking care of these issues.

But on a happier note, the Hershey Bears played in their 5,000 regular season game on December 20th. They are also in first place in the AHL.  I even got to go to their game New Year's Eve, in which they won. Well, I was going to post some more, but I'm falling asleep at the keyboard, and so I'm gonna end it here. Hopefully I'll remember to post another update sooner.

I know it has been forever since I've posted on here, but I was trying to learn as much as I could while in training and now that I graduated last Friday, I started in my new store last Saturday....in Lebanon. While I thought after Saturday it wasn't that bad, just needs some work, Monday was a different story. I wasn't even at work for a half hour and a regional rep came to our store. After a good weekend in sales and lack of stocking my food areas, they looked really bad, but of course, there's no excuse for them looking that bad. Of course pictures were taken and sent to our regional manager, so I'm hoping he does not come to visit, 'cause I've got a feeling that I'll end up getting fired over this. Of course 4 different stores each sent us 2 associates to help us get my food areas stocked and the frieght in order. Palmyra just happens to be one of those stores. This is embarassing to me to have people from my old store come and see how bad my areas look right now. When I was in hardware, I had very little extra frieght, it was organized, and now with the areas I have now, they don't look like that, and it makes me feel like a failure and gives people the perception that I'm slacking off. And some people know how I am when someone above me calls me a slacker, I can't seem to control my temper as well, but I have to be careful now not to blow up too often. Luckily my store manager and the market food dude (as he lets us call him) have been encouraging to me and trying to help calm me down. There's only one person within Wal-Mart that can calm me down, and she has already told me that we will be getting together 'cause she wants to tell me some things that will help me out. This is just a brief overview of my past week, the full story would just go on and on.
